Usually we like to create customized wedding day timelines according to the sunset time of the day where you’ll tie the knot. This because from most of the Italian venues you’ll be able to admire the sunset and your guests will love to enjoy a Spritz and take a picture at that time (instead of seating for the dinner and missing the golden hour). In addition, the 60-90 minutes before the sun goes down will be the perfect moment for your couple shooting because of a beautiful light.
According to this, if the ceremony and wedding reception happen in the same venue, we recommend to start your symbolic ceremony 3 hours before the sunset. Doing so, you’ll have a 30-minute ceremony and group pictures right after it (around 10 minutes). Then the couple will leave with photographers and videographers for 30/60 minutes for their session. In the meantime, your guests will mingle. Once you’re back to the aperitif, you’ll spend around half an hour with your guests, having some drinks and finger food and canapés.
It’s time now to sit for the dinner. The meal can last 2-3 hours, depending on how many courses you’ll have and duration of potential speeches. At the end of the meal, we often consider half an hour for the cutting of the cake, toast and first dance. Lastly, the after-dinner party with a dj-set and dancing will start. The duration of the party varies according to the rules of the venue in terms of music (and of course on the time you want to end it).
Anyway, the wedding day timeline typically starts with the bride and bridesmaids’ getting ready. It usually takes 3/3.5 hours for the bride to be ready (meaning hair and make-up done + wearing the dress) and bridesmaids will start the preparation before her.
